The 35th Biennial Western Coatings Symposium and Show was held October 17-20 in Las Vegas, Nevada. For many exhibitors, presenters and attendees this was the first in-person conference they took part in since the pandemic brought trade shows to a halt in 2020.
“Exhibitors were enthusiastic about seeing customers face-to-face and the overall attendance at the show,” said John Pitt of Dowd & Guild and WCS president. “The technical program, once again, provided up-to-date information and technologies. The overall experience was better than anticipated, and the WCS feels the 36th WCS show in October, 2023, will continue to grow and top previous shows attendance and participation.”

The technical programs were well attended. Among the highlights of the talks were two keynote presentations. The first was from Dr. Erik Sapper, assistant professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at CalPoly, who presented “Formulating the Future: How Technology, Innovation and Education will Shape Our Field.” Christopher Miller of Arkema gave the keynote address on “The Future of Sustainability in the Coatings Industry” during Day 2 of the symposium.
