BASF Corp. announced that it has sold its Chicopee, MA general industrial coatings manufacturing site to C&C Ventures, LLC. The transaction includes property, buildings, production equipment and BASF’s customer list of specific products for which C&C Ventures has acquired the proprietary rights.
The 25 employees at the site are expected to eventually transition to the acquiring company, according to BASF.
The sale is part of BASF’s strategy to focus on coil, extrusion and powder coatings, as well as select segments for general industrial coatings. BASF still maintains five industrial coatings manufacturing sites in North America.
l Color experts at BASF coatings have consulted with carmakers to produce its annual color trend forecasts for future automotive design efforts in Europe, North America and Japan.
According to Renate Weber, color stylist, BASF, the new design trends in Europe will center around a “longing for rest” theme. “People today are facing a flood tide of information and therefore long for rest, seeking ways to retire into themselves.” According to Mr. Weber, this means that quiet and subdued colors, such as gold, green, beige, blue, silver and red, will rise in demand. While combinations of white and black will be popular, loud and aggressive colors will lose ground.
