Honeywell developed the resin as a superior alternative to poly-fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) polymers. Honeywell’s product has a unique polymer structure with higher fluorine content, which delivers excellent weather and chemical resistance. Moreover, Honeywell’s fluoropolymers are lower in viscosity, so customers can use less organic solvents, which enables customers to comply with tightening regulations for volatile organic compounds (VOC).
“Honeywell’s new fluoropolymer resin was developed by our technical team after years of testing and optimization,” said Ken Gayer, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Fluorine Products. “In addition to the significant performance benefits, this new product brings environmental benefits as well by reducing VOC emissions.”
One example of the new product’s application can be seen in its use by Jiangsu Toppen Science & Technology Co., Ltd, a leading Chinese graphene manufacturer. Jiangsu is using the resin to help protect the newly completed first kilometer section of a 23-kilometer-long chemical pipeline structure in Jiangsu Province, China.
“Honeywell’s fluoropolymer resin is an excellent choice as the top coat to complement Toppen’s innovative graphene primer,” said Zhou Haiyan, chairman of Jiangsu Toppen. “This ideal combination will not only provide the pipeline structure with superior anti-corrosion protection, but also maintain its aesthetic appeal for years to come. Furthermore, it provides us the best environmental choice and helps us meet China’s new, stringent VOC regulations for such an important project.”
