    [short_title] =>
    [summary] =>
    [slug] => ppg-receives-bcfs-corporate-social-responsibility-award-for-second-consecutive-year
    [body] => PPG said it received the 2018 Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the British Coatings Federation for the second consecutive year. The award recognizes the company that has clearly demonstrated an outstanding and successful charity or CSR campaign across any aspect of social responsibility.

PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES program, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Since the program’s launch in 2015, PPG and its employee volunteers have completed more than 170 Colorful Communities projects and have impacted nearly 5 million people in 25 countries, including in the U.K. PPG also offers the Colourful Futures Education program and the Chemistry Education Project in the U.K. and supports leading educational institutions, such as the National Space Centre.

“Having PPG recognized alongside industry peers is an honor and will allow us to continue our work delivering value to the community,” said Vincent O’Sullivan, PPG architectural coatings business unit director, United Kingdom and Ireland. “We are delighted to have won this award for the second year running, which has not been done before. Receiving the award will enable us to continue celebrating with our great people, who generously donate their time and effort. We express our gratitude to every organization or group that has helped make our community programs possible.”

The 2018 BCF Awards received more applicants than any previous year, highlighting their growing importance and standing within the U.K. paint and coatings industry. PPG was a finalist in five categories – Sustainable Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, Excellence in Training, Customer Service and Coatings Care.

BCF is the sole trade association representing the British coatings industry. Its members’ products support a supply chain of 300,000 people and represent 95 percent of U.K. sales of coatings, inks and wallcoverings.

The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and paint products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Springdale, where PPG has an industrial coatings manufacturing and research and development facility.

The project brought together more than 24 PPG volunteers, who spent the day revitalizing a wooden building that will be used as classroom space on the property. PPG provided more than 12 gallons of product to assist with the project, including FLOOD Pro Series deck cleaner, DEFT water-based polyurethane and Flood Pro Series transparent finish paint products.

The Rachel Carson Homestead is the birthplace of its namesake, Rachel Carson, who is recognized worldwide as the founder of the modern environmental movement. Her legacy includes building upon an inborn sense of wonder about the natural world and her courageous and visionary awareness of environmental impact. Visitors from around the world come to visit her historic home site and learn about her life and environmental ethics.

Volunteers painted the interior and exterior of the facility’s classroom with stains and sealants to not only enhance the appearance of the wooden structure but also protect it from environmental elements. The community-donated classroom space will also be available for “Lunch & Learns” for many organizations and students in the area.

“As members of the Springdale and greater Pittsburgh community, we feel it is important to give back in any way we can,” said Rodolfo Ramirez, PPG director, sales and strategic segments, industrial coatings, North America. “Participating in the protection and beautification of the Rachel Carson Homestead allows us to contribute to the preservation of a local legacy and promote ongoing education.” [views] => 0 [published] => 1 [status] => 3 [priority] => 0 [publish_date] => 2018-07-26 09:45:00 [updated_at] => 2018-08-29 11:13:34 [last_updated_author] => 228513 [uploaded_by] => 228513 [user_role_id] => 0 [custom_fields] => [] [custom_fields_old] => [splitcontent] => 1 [content_url] => [related_content_ids] => ["283488","294159","279609","289040","285028","294113","278585","287585","288243","283078","274521","281477","289451","292702","288242","279500","290330","281293","279208"] [is_show_company_name] => [created_at] => 2019-04-09 04:36:23 ) [2] => Content Object ( [className] => Content [contentLinks] => Array ( ) [belongsTo] => [contentIssue] => [id] => 294159 [pageNumber] => [offset] => [totalPages] => [last_query] => [last_sql] => [show_errors] => 1 [databaseServer] => Array ( [key] => master [host] => 172.24.16.232 [user] => rodpub_beta [pass] => MvQQzhse92k58yA [db] => rodpub_beta ) [tableName] => contents [content_type_id] => 2492 [resource_id] => 0 [author_id] => 0 [primary_issue_slug] => [author_name] => {"name":"","title":""} [magazine_id] => 5 [layout_id] => 0 [primary_image] => 173594 [primary_image_old] => [slider_image_id] => 173594 [banner_image] => 0 [title] => PPG Continues Sponsorship for Omega European Masters Golf Championship [short_title] => [summary] => [slug] => ppg-continues-sponsorship-for-omega-european-masters-golf-championship [body] => PPG will continue its sponsorship for the Omega European Masters Golf Championship, for the second year running. Under the agreement, PPG will have branding rights for the entire Swiss stop on the professional men’s golf European tour, taking place from September 6 to 9, 2018 on the Crans-sur-Sierre Club golf course in Crans-Montana.

The Omega European Masters is one of the most prestigious golf competitions played on the European tour circuit. PPG’s continued sponsorship is a symbol of its close association with the sport which has seen the brand play a leading role in the production of coatings for golf balls.

The relationship has been instrumental in satisfying golfers’ demand for distance and accuracy to achieve the perfect finish.
“PPG and golf have a long history. For example, PPG partners with leading golf ball manufacturers such as Acushnet, maker of Titleist and supplies innovative coatings that help golfers achieve longer distance and better accuracy,” said Jean-Marie Greindl, SVP global architectural coatings and president, PPG Europe, Middle East and Africa.

We’re very excited to continue PPG’s support for the Omega European Masters. It is such a unique event, and platform to connect with our customers in a dynamic environment and to showcase how PPG is innovating to protect and enhance the world of golf and beyond.”
Yves Mittaz, Tournament Director at Omega European Masters Golf organization, said, “PPG has an association with golf which makes the sponsorship a natural fit. The brand has a forward-thinking approach and has been instrumental in improving the technical standard of golf. We look forward to working closely together.”

During the event, as part of this partnership, PPG will have a branded presence in the hospitality and spectator village. PPG will also be playing host to an Innovation Summit Day on Thursday, September 6 that will showcase how cutting-edge technology in paints and coatings is driving forward innovations in some the world’s leading sectors and industries, as demonstrated through its partnership with Omega European Masters Golf Tournament.

Dr. Stuart Hellring, PPG senior research and development scientist, will present the company’s recent success in developing a cost-effective cathode binder that eliminates the use of the solvent N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP). The new, market-ready binder also helps streamline formulation and application processes, reducing mixing times by up to 90 percent, and contributes to longer battery cycle life. NMP, which is widely used in electrode manufacturing, has been identified as a reproductive hazard by several global regulatory agencies.

“PPG is pioneering the development of innovative coatings and related technologies that will help battery and vehicle manufacturers increase the range and performance of electric powertrains while meeting strict new environmental, health and safety standards,” said Ranju Arya, PPG senior business director, mobility.

The presentation will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Onyx Ballroom of the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Show attendees are also encouraged to visit the PPG booth (1913) in the exhibit hall.

“As members of the Springdale and greater Pittsburgh community, we feel it is important to give back in any way we can,” said Rodolfo Ramirez, PPG director, sales and strategic segments, industrial coatings, North America. “Participating in the protection and beautification of the Rachel Carson Homestead allows us to contribute to the preservation of a local legacy and promote ongoing education.” [views] => 0 [published] => 1 [status] => 3 [priority] => 0 [publish_date] => 2018-07-26 09:45:00 [updated_at] => 2018-08-29 11:13:34 [last_updated_author] => 228513 [uploaded_by] => 228513 [user_role_id] => 0 [custom_fields] => [] [custom_fields_old] => [splitcontent] => 1 [content_url] => [related_content_ids] => ["283488","294159","279609","289040","285028","294113","278585","287585","288243","283078","274521","281477","289451","292702","288242","279500","290330","281293","279208"] [is_show_company_name] => [created_at] => 2019-04-09 04:36:23 ) [2] => Content Object ( [className] => Content [contentLinks] => Array ( ) [belongsTo] => [contentIssue] => [id] => 294159 [pageNumber] => [offset] => [totalPages] => [last_query] => [last_sql] => [show_errors] => 1 [databaseServer] => Array ( [key] => master [host] => 172.24.16.232 [user] => rodpub_beta [pass] => MvQQzhse92k58yA [db] => rodpub_beta ) [tableName] => contents [content_type_id] => 2492 [resource_id] => 0 [author_id] => 0 [primary_issue_slug] => [author_name] => {"name":"","title":""} [magazine_id] => 5 [layout_id] => 0 [primary_image] => 173594 [primary_image_old] => [slider_image_id] => 173594 [banner_image] => 0 [title] => PPG Continues Sponsorship for Omega European Masters Golf Championship [short_title] => [summary] => [slug] => ppg-continues-sponsorship-for-omega-european-masters-golf-championship [body] => PPG will continue its sponsorship for the Omega European Masters Golf Championship, for the second year running. Under the agreement, PPG will have branding rights for the entire Swiss stop on the professional men’s golf European tour, taking place from September 6 to 9, 2018 on the Crans-sur-Sierre Club golf course in Crans-Montana.

[slug] => ppg-scientist-discusses-recent-advances-in-automotive-battery-binders-coatings [body] => PPG announced that one of its leading scientists for energy storage solutions will discuss recent advances in electrode binders and coatings for automotive lithium-ion batteries during The Battery Show North America 2018, which will be held Sept. 11-13 in Novi, Michigan.
