Sika Global Automotive has announced that Dr. Benjamin Kraemer, Technical Marketing Manager, will present at the 7th annual Doors and Closures in Body Engineering Conference, being held November 15-16, in Bad Nauheim, Germany.
Kraemer’s presentation “Innovative Bonding Solutions for Tailgates in Multi Material Design” will compare different adhesive bonding concepts for multi-material construction, and is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 16
Tailgates are regarded as one of the most complex exterior parts and account for a significant proportion of vehicle weight. Weight savings estimates of 25-30% –and therefore savings in CO2 emissions – can be achieved with mixed-material construction but this leads to challenges when dissimilar plastics and/or metals have to be joined. Kraemer’s presentation will explore adhesive solutions with regard to performance, process simplification, efficiency, and cost.
In addition, Sika Automotive will be exhibiting in booth #2 at the conference. On display will be the latest innovations in Sikaflex and SikaForce technologies that address a broad range of substrates while offering shorter production sequence times. Product experts will be on hand to answer questions and explore options to address both engineering and aesthetic concerns for automakers and component suppliers working with mixed material construction throughout the entire vehicle.
