Sika Automotive announces its sponsorship of Rinspeed AG concept vehicles for the fifth year in a row. The Oasis, Rinspee’s’ 2017 concept vehicle is on display at the 2017 North American International Auto Show.
The 2017 Rinspeed Oasis is a self-driving electric vehicle intended for urban environments. In typical Rinspeed fashion, the vehicle’s form is driven by a creative vision for the interaction between man and machine. The Oasis vehicle is designer Frank M. Rinderknecht’s reaction to the notion of the “urban jungle” full of large vehicles and is, in response, a small, nimble vehicle with an integrated small garden plot underneath the front windscreen.
This novel concept vehicle utilizes a wide range of materials for construction and finishes - mixing the modern coolness of aluminum and touchscreens, with organic touches such as leather, wool, and natural wood. Such an unusual combination of substrates present construction challenges which are answered with intelligent joining solutions from Sika.
Sika adhesives have been used throughout the vehicle’s construction, from the body to the interior and trim. In fact, all adhesive bonds in and on the Oasis are realized with Sika Automotive products.
Greg Moran, Head of Global Automotive Marketing for Sika Automotive says, “Sika is continually developing adhesive products that help automakers build vehicles that are lighter, stronger, safer, quieter and greener. From everyday trucks and cars, to specialty concepts - such as the Rinspeed Oasis - Sika products help engineers and drivers see benefits beyond the bond.”
The 2017 Rinspeed Oasis concept vehicle is on display January 9-22 in the ZF booth at the North American International Auto Show, at Detroit’s Cobo Center.
