BASF will launch VINOFAN, a vinyl acrylic latex binder for the paper coating industry, at PaperCon 2018, which is scheduled for April 15-18 in Charlotte, N.C.
VINOFAN will join BASF’s APEX platform of high strength binders developed for paper and board producers to reduce binder parts in their coatings.
VINOFAN provides coated unbleached kraft, and coated recycled board which produces a binder with good coverage, high-binding strength, and exceptional runnability in traditional coating application methods. In the printing and converting process, VINOFAN exhibits excellent cold and hot melt glueability and exceptional printability. The new vinyl acrylic addition to the APEX product line will complement existing styrene acrylic and styrene butadiene technologies, allowing manufacturers of coated paper and paperboard to optimize their formulation for cost-in-use savings.
“VINOFAN’s addition to BASF’s diversified dispersions and additives portfolio demonstrates our continued commitment to meeting our customer’s needs and advancing the paper coating market,” said David Antonuccio, business manager, Paper Coatings, BASF North America.
