PPG recently completed a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project in Lucan, Ontario, that helped revitalize the Lucan Community Memorial Centre indoor hockey arena.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and paint products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Ontario, where the company has nearly 100 company-owned DULUX Paints stores, a manufacturing and research and development facility and an administrative office.
The project brought together nine employee volunteers, who spent two days revitalizing four locker rooms in the arena. PPG provided approximately 18 gallons of Dulux Paints products by PPG to assist with the project.
The town of Lucan was recently named the winner of 2018 Kraft Hockeyville Canada. As part of the grand prize, Lucan Community Memorial Centre will host the Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators on Sept. 18, 2018, and receive $250,000 in arena upgrades.
The arena is also home to the Lucan Irish junior ice hockey team, which competes in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association.
“It’s always rewarding to be able to give back to a community right in our backyard,” said Martin Tustin-Fuchs, PPG brand manager, Dulux Paints by PPG. “The Lucan Community Memorial Centre is such an important asset to the people of this town and PPG is pleased to be a part of the restoration and beautification of the arena so that future generations can play here with pride.”
PPG volunteers painted the facility’s four locker rooms in a custom color palette of Toronto Maple Leafs blue, Ottawa Senators red and Lucan Irish green.
