PPG announced that its Greensboro, North Carolina, plant will host 12 students from the North Carolina Robotics Program on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The event is being held to mark National Manufacturing Day, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which aims to address labor opportunities, connect with future generations of manufacturers and ensure the success of the manufacturing industry.
“We’re very proud to host this event and hope to make a positive impact on the students,” said Monica Huerta, PPG plant manager, Greensboro. “This is a great opportunity for students to gain experience in manufacturing and give us a chance to meet the next generation of manufacturing employees.”
During the event, students will work with plant operators to learn more about the manufacturing process, see how powder coatings are created and understand the various technologies that are necessary to operate a coatings plant. In addition, students will learn about the importance of color matching in the coatings industry. Plant employees have prepared multiple safety activities to create a fun and interactive lesson for the students.
PPG’s Greensboro facility employs about 100 people and produces powder coatings for industrial applications used to finish a wide variety of products, including automotive parts, appliances and metal furniture.
