Clariant launched a low-foaming polymer dispersant for pigment preparations.
Dispersogen PLF 100 helps to improve efficiency for paste producers, even when they are using hard-to-disperse red pigment concentrates, says Clariant. Finished pastes have high color strength, giving bold façade paints, for example. Less microfoam is created during the painting process, rendering painted surfaces smoother. The product also helps pigment pastes maintain their original viscosity levels for up to two years while in storage. Dispersogen PLF 100 does not leach out of paints exposed to humidity before they dry.
Clariant also introduced an easy-to-use dispersant for biocide-free, organosilicate paints.
Demand for biocide-free indoor paints is increasing sharply, according to Andreas Hardt, head of sales, paints & coatings.

The challenge, though, is to make them easy to use. When formulated with Dispersogen SP Plus, organosilicate paints remain biocide-free and breathable but also acquire the superior flow properties of dispersion paints.
The product "generates no VOCs, is APEO-free, and completely removes the foam from the pigment,” said Hardt.
