HMG Paints Ltd won the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N), Business of the Year Award in the £10m - £25m turnover category at this years’ M.E.N Business Awards ceremony.
HMG Paints was shortlisted amongst two other neighboring Manchester-based firms, Godel Technologies and Utilities Design and Planning.
HMG claimed victory after impressing the judges with the company’s engagement within the region and commitment to the community of Manchester, as well as progressing achievements in innovation.
At the forefront of HMG’s innovation is its involvement in the PolyGraph Project. The aim is to incorporate Manchester founded Graphene (an allotrope of carbon) into practical uses for composite, coating and adhesive applications.
HMG has gone on to release a range of graphene infused coatings into the market, predominantly for commercial vehicle and automotive applications. These specifically designed coatings are prolonging the usable life of vehicles and structures, reducing the environmental footprint of the manufacturing process.
“The whole team at HMG Paints is beaming with pride after winning Business of the Year against such tough competition. As we enter our 90th year of business, without moving from our humble roots in Manchester, we are really happy to be sharing the news of our achievement and dedicate it to our late Chairman Brian Falder, who was laid to rest on HMG’s 89th anniversary on Oct. 4, 2019,” said Gracienne Ikin, digital sales and communications manager, HMG Paints Ltd.
The awards evening recognized firms across an array of sectors including retail, manufacturing, technology, finance, fashion, and construction.
“Congratulations to all our winners," Manchester Evening News Business Editor Shelina Begum said. "Together they underpin a strong business community here in Manchester and the innovation taking place across a number of areas is keeping these companies at the forefront of what they do.”
