As we put the final touches on the October issue, the Coatings World team is also busy making the final preparations to attend CHINACOAT2015 November 18-20 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). This issue has several features dedicated to the Chinese paint and coatings market.
China’s Economy
Contributing writer, Dan Watson examines the current state of the Chinese economy in his article “China – A Maturing Economy. According to Watson “the emergence of China into the global market has been a remarkable transformation of their society. Their continued double digit growth over the past few decades has been the envy of the world. This is especially true since they have managed to keep internal inflation rates at very low levels.” He concludes by stating, “Don’t expect to see a mass exit of foreign investors from China because of their economic slowing. Businesses and countries have all become part of the future of China. China is still regarded by a number of economists as an opportunity even though they may be approaching what some regard as a ‘maturing position’.”
Powder Coatings Market in China
China correspondent Arnold Wang’s article, “Foreign Powder Coatings Producers Slowing New Investments in China,” takes a close look at the powder coatings market in China. According to Wang, “the powder coatings market in China is still very fragmented and composed mainly of the products of domestic small- and middle-sized powder coatings producers. But the high-end segment of the local powder coatings is still represented by the products of foreign companies, such as DuPont, AkzoNobel, Nippon Paint, Tiger and PPG.
