The European Coatings Show (ECS) plus Adhesives, Sealants, Construction Chemicals is the leading exhibition for the international coating and paint industry and is held every two years.
Show organizers Vincentz Network and the Nürnberg Messe, said this year’s ECS will once again be a major success. “Although sales are still ongoing, we can already announce that 2017 will be the biggest show ever,” Alexander Mattausch, director of exhibitions at NürnbergMesse said. He noted that they are seeing growth from almost every country, including the U.S., the Netherlands, France, Italy, China and Germany.
“The ongoing growth of the exhibition underlines its status as the world-leading coatings show,” said Amanda Beyer, head of events at Vincentz Network. “While the show promises to become a huge success, the European Coatings Conference is also expected to scale new heights with a strong program comprising almost 200 submissions depicting the latest in coatings technology.”
The 2015 ECS attracted 1,024 exhibitors and almost 28,500 trade visitors from around the globe. The conference offered 144 presentations over 24 sessions. The overview of the latest scientific research developments attracted more than 700 delegates from 42 countries.
This year the ECS will take place April 4-6 and will overlap with the two-day Conference held April 3-4 at the NürnbergMesse in Nürnberg, Germany.
European Coatings Conference
The European Coatings Conference will be held in conjunction with the ECS. The Conference, which takes place April 3-4, will feature more than 140 technical presentations. The schedule will be divided into 24 parallel sessions. The sessions will cover traditional topics such as pigments, powder coatings, waterborne coatings and industrial coatings, as well as topics from allied industries, such as printing inks, adhesives and sealants and construction chemicals. Additional sessions will focus on production technology, testing and measurement and novel materials. There will also be a special session called “Science today – coatings tomorrow” that will give attendees some insight into where the future of the coatings industry is headed.
The keynote speech in the plenary session will be held by Renaud Nicolay from the City of Paris engineering school ESPCI (École Supérieure de Physiques et de Chimie Industrielles). He will discuss how covalent bonds can be used to realize new coating properties. Ten additional pre-congress tutorials on April 2 are offered as an option to provide a practical introduction to the conference.
European Coatings Show
The European Coatings Show will offer manufacturers of paints and coatings, adhesives, sealants, printing inks and constructions chemicals, suppliers of raw materials and industrial processors a unique platform to meet industry experts and learn about the latest technologies being offered for the paint and coating industry.
The ECS will take up seven exhibition halls and will showcase the latest developments for the manufacture of paints and coatings. According to show organizers, international trade visitors can look forward to a comprehensive overview of the market for raw materials and services as well as testing, measuring, laboratory and production technology. The event will also welcome a large number of international exhibitors, with companies from outside Germany accounting for more than half of the exhibitors currently registered.
Some key highlights at this year’s event include:
• Spotlight on the latest trends in eco-friendly multi-purpose products - Paint and coatings manufacturers work with raw material suppliers to develop environmentally friendly formulations and functional coating solutions for keeping surfaces frost-free. At the ECS, trade visitors and exhibitors will discuss this and other current developments in the coatings industry. The talking points are likely to include the last registration deadline of the European Chemical Regulation REACH by 2018, the use of nano technology and innovations for UV-LED curing. Apart from the information provided at the stands, trade visitors also benefit from product presentations in the exhibition halls that provide an overview of the coating technologies of the future.
• Innovative start-ups get support to take part in the event - a government-funded pavilion enables start-ups from Germany to present their solutions under the banner “Innovations made in Germany.” Thanks to funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), eligible firms can benefit from reduced rates to take part in the trade fair.
The most outstanding Conference paper will be selected for the European Coatings Award. A juror of experts will evaluate all contributions and select a winner of this award, which is sponsored by the European Coatings Journal. The judging criteria for best paper include relevance, scientific content and degree of innovation. The winner of the award will receive a trophy and €2,ooo. The award presentation will take during the opening ceremony of the ECS on April 4th.
