Pantone announced its 2018 Color of the Year—Ultra Violet—this morning, and the experts at Behr Paint are already thinking about how this shade will translate into home décor. The color, which was chosen in a nod to the complexity of today’s world, can be one of the most intimidating hues to bring into the home.
Behr color and design expert Rob Hellander recommends King’s Court as the perfect paint color match. This deep, theatrical purple infuses energy and drama in bedrooms, offices or rooms used for entertaining, and adds a touch of whimsy to neutral spaces when applied on furniture in a high-gloss sheen. You can find a color swatch, as well as a selection of application images that feature Kings Court in this Dropbox folder.
“Purple is one of the most dynamic shades in the color spectrum, and when styled correctly, can add an air of confidence and originality to a space,” said Hellander. “For a regal, energizing look, pair it with lighter, contrasting blues and terra cotta oranges.”
People who aren’t ready for such a bold statement can use a muted, trend-forward version—lilac.
“This bluer, more grown-up version of the blush is alluring, creating a welcoming and calm aura,” said Hellander. “Graylac from the BEHR 2018 Color Trends palette is a great alternative for people looking to bring subtle notes of purple into their home.”
King’s Court and Graylac from Behr are available exclusively at The Home Depot stores nationwide.
