BASF recently announced a $10,000 donation to the Angleton Independent School District (AISD) Foundation’s Founders Campaign. The donation will further district-wide programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
“We place a high value on our local school district partnerships as we recognize they are our ‘neighborhood talent pipeline,’ helping us train our workforce and leaders of tomorrow,” said Chris Witte, SVP and General Site Manager. “This donation strengthens our partnership with AISD and helps ensure the district is able to fund other special programs, particularly in the area of STEM education.”
BASF will be recognized as a Founding Donor as part of the Foundation’s campaign which has set a goal of raising $200,000 by March 31, 2017. In the past, BASF provided the district with support in other ways such as providing equipment for the Angleton High School robotics program and hosting student tours of the BASF Freeport site.
“This wonderful donation from BASF will fund projects that will enhance the education of our children,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Patricia Montgomery said. “Through grants to our staff and schools, we believe that we will change the educational process in Angleton ISD. When our students graduate, they will seek jobs in businesses and industries such as BASF. I think that the donation by BASF and the work of the Foundation is proof of the A-Team concept: home, school and community working together for the future of our children.”
Starting next fall, the Foundation will award grants up to $1,000 for individual teacher-initiated projects and up to $5,000 for campus teams, departments or district-initiated programs that would not otherwise be paid for through the normal operating budget.
