Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) and Color Corporation of America (CCA) received the UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification for their NovoColor II 8800 line.
GREENGUARD Certification helps commercial and consumer buyers select products that support healthier indoor environments.
“We are honored to receive the GREENGUARD Gold Certification for our NovoColor II colorants, recognizing our work to put consumer and environmental considerations at the forefront of our product development,” said Jon Remissong, global commercial director for CCA. “We are dedicated to creating products that ensure our customers’ paint formulations meet consumer demands and regulatory requirements.”
NovoColor II colorants represent state-of-the art universal pigment dispersions. These universal colorants are specifically engineered for use in waterborne and solvent-borne coatings systems, which help formulators meet stringent VOC requirements in a wide variety of coating systems.
“At EPS and CCA, we are consistently thinking about the future and working on formulating next-generation products for our customers,” said Mark Ellsworth, global colorants technical director for EPS and CCA. “NovoColor II colorants give our customers access to a product line that meets the most stringent VOC requirements, without having to compromise on precise color control to deliver the right colors, every time.”
GREENGUARD Certification emissions limits were first used as purchasing specifications for the US EPA and the State of Washington for furniture and commercial building products. The selection of GREENGUARD Certified products can also help buyers earn points for Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) in their LEED Certification submissions.
The GREENGUARD Gold Certification standard includes health based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions. In addition to limiting emissions of more than 360 VOCs and total chemical emissions, GREENGUARD Gold Certified products must also comply with requirements of the State of California’s Department of Public Health (CDPH) “Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers, Version 1.2 (2017)” (also known as California Section 01350).
“By earning the GREENGUARD Certification, Engineered Polymer Solutions and Color Corporation of America have demonstrated their dedication to supporting healthier indoor environments, a critically important effort as most individuals spend upwards of 90 percent of their time indoors,” said Alberto Uggetti, VP and GM for UL’s Environment Division.
