Gone are the days of sorting through row after row of color swatches only to leave the paint department empty-handed and frustrated, according to Luke Klein, brand manager, Pittsburgh Paints & Stains brand of PPG Architectural Coatings. “In designing the new Pittsburgh Paints & Stains color center, we wanted to provide homeowners with an inspiring experience that not only helps them select paint colors for their homes, but also serves as a creative launchpad for their entire paint project.”
Among its many features, the touchscreen allows customers to virtually paint a room with selected colors, view color on-screen on a larger scale, receive an email containing the paint swatches and painted room to view later, view color-tips videos, ideas and product information, browse by color, style and personality, and more. CIO® Magazine recently named the technology behind the touchscreen as a 2015 CIO 100® Award recipient.
Other features of the new color center, which is currently in all Menards stores, include:
- A 9-foot-long color library featuring 1,081 color swatches and all-new brochures segmented by color;
- Ability to bring to life color swatches and brochures on the touchscreen by scanning a barcode on each swatch and brochure, and then viewing colors on the screen, finding complementary colors and virtually painting brochure room images in different colors;
- Guides to room-by-room projects with various styles and information about using color;
- Color trends for 2016; and
- Painting tips.
